Mariak offers an extensive line of PVC-Free solar shading fabrics. Eco-friendly SheerWeave Infinity is PVC-free and 100% recyclable. SheerWeave Infinity starts with the only core yarn, synthetic or natural, that is born out of post-industrial waste by-product. Emulating the look and engineering of standard SheerWeave fabrics, Infinity’s yarn coating is developed from the same compound family as its core yarn. Like other SheerWeave fabrics, Infinity provides the same solar heat and glare control properties that have elevated window treatments from mere decoration, to high performance tools for conserving energy, harnessing natural light, and maintaining interior comfort levels. In addition to SheerWeave Infinity simply being 100% recyclable, Mariak offers a Certified Fabric Take-Back program by which this fabric can be recycled at the end of its use.

Solar Screen Fabrics: |
Solar screen fabrics are designed to filter out natural light, rather than block it out. These materials effectively reduce heat absorption and prevent heat and cold loss. Solar screen fabrics minimize worker fatigue and eyestrain by effectively reducing the amount of glare on computer monitors. While they provide substantial protection against fading, unlike other forms of window coverings, solar screens also preserve an outside view. Most solar screen fabrics are low maintenance and washable, bacteria resistant, and fire retardant, making them an optimal solution for healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and commercial applications.

Blackout Fabrics:
Blackout fabrics are designed to filter out all light from entering a room. They provide significant heat protection and instant privacy, making them an ideal choice for conference rooms, bedrooms, and home theaters.

Openness refers to the percentage of fabric that is “open” to allow for light filtration or light blockage and visibility.
A larger percentage of openness will allow for more light visibility, while a smaller percentage of openness will provide greater light blockage and less visibility.
Other factors that will affect the amount of light and visibility are the time of day, the weave or mesh to inch ratio of the fabric and the color of the fabric. Lighter color fabrics deflect more light, while darker color fabrics allow for more visibility. There will be less privacy the greater the light source combined with openness percentage. Screen fabrics 1% or higher do not provide full privacy at night when the light source is coming from the inside; there will be some level of shadowing and visibility from the outside. If privacy is required, then a room darkening blackout, privacy light filtering or a lower percentage of openness is recommended.
If heat deflection and insulation are a priority, then consider a metalized backed fabric such as the Mariak Ultimate Achievement aka EnviroScreen.

Railroading & Fabric Seams:
In order to make a shade that is wider than the width of the roll, the fabric will be railroaded or turned sideways and cut to the width of the shade (note: not all fabrics can be railroaded). In cases where the shade is wider and longer than the width of the fabric roll, a second piece of fabric will be cut and welded or spliced to the first fabric piece. This weld, which secures the two pieces of fabric together creates a visible seam. When a splice is required, the factory will place the seam as high on the shade as possible. If a custom splice (aka seam) location is desired, please specify the seam location from the bottom of the shade up. Please allow ± ½” tolerance when custom seam locations are requested.
